THE CAB DRIVER PULLS up and parks on the main road, and I can see the hotel tucked all the way at the end of a long, narrow laneway. As soon as the car stops, I open the door.

“Get up you guys, we’re here!” I shake Bryan and Hansley gently, before I step out of the vehicle in a hurry. The cab driver opens the back door and I take the first bag I see, a maroon duffle bag. Tristan gets out quickly, joining me to take the bags.

“Come on, your tiny arms can barely carry anything,” he takes out the heavy suitcase next to the duffle bag and another suitcase. Bryan and Hansley stumble out of the car with weary nods, before Tristan hands the suitcases to them both and they make their way down the laneway to the hotel with majority of the bags. He leans in to grab the last bag before I intercept.

“Come on, it’s the least I can do. My arms aren’t that tiny.”

I grab the duffle bag which is deceptively heavy. It’s rather small, how is it so heavy? Are there bowling balls inside?

“Fine, if you insist.” Tristan closes the cab door and hands the cab driver the money and I start walking towards the hotel.

I walk at a sluggish pace, slowed down by the weight of the bag. I can hear footsteps behind me and I turn around to catch Tristan looking at my backside.

I glare at him. “You know, instead of checking out my butt, why don’t you be a gentleman and help me with my bags?”

“I thought you insisted? Besides I think I will enjoy the way your ass looks in those jeans a bit longer,” he teases as he comes up close behind me.

I stick out my tongue out at him, panting dramatically as I drag it another step.

“Will you quit it?” I turn around to see his gaze focused on my backside.

“It’s a shame you have to sit on something so pretty,” he muses to himself and I blush, annoyed that he still has an effect on me.

I grumble loudly and he sniggers.

“Fine, if you’re going to be such a baby about it...” He comes up next to me and takes the bag out of my hands, before hurrying down the laneway, another smirk on his frustratingly sexy face.

“You only had to say please, Straight-Laced.”

We make our way down the laneway and arrive at The Estelle Salon. With The Stratosphere close by, the Estelle is right in the thick of the strip but in a quiet part. Lush, arboreal, and earthy are the first words that come to mind when describing the hotel lobby. Compared to the other ritzy and glitzy hotels, The Estelle has a more vintage and toned-down vibe. I step into lobby and my senses are hit with an explosion of mahogany furniture, from the floors to the expansive pigeon hole unit sitting behind the reception desk to the hand carved tables. It feels more like a homey tavern than a hotel.
